Our Team

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board consists of eminent Nigerians who have made their marks in their respective fields of endeavour. They include:


Chief (Sir) Aigboje Higo, BA, MA – (Chairman)
He was Manager, Managing Director and finally Executive Chairman of the company between 1965 and 1994. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM); Honourary Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Letters; Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Publishers; and former Board member of the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank. He was one of the five Founders of the Nigerian Publishers Association way back in 1965, and twice its President. He retired as Executive Chairman in December 1994, after 30 years of meritorious service. He was retained as Chairman and Consultant to the company and has served in this capacity since January 1995.


Professor Chinua Achebe, NNMA, OFR
He is an eminent scholar and an internationally-acclaimed novelist of high repute. He currently lectures at BARD College, New York, US.

Chief F. S. Ehinlaye He is a seasoned accountant, and rose to the position of Deputy Chairman before his retirement in 1995. He has since served as Consultant to the company.


Alhaji Ado Gwaram
He was at the fore-front of educational reforms and development in Kano State. He was twice the Secretary to the Kano State Government. He is a seasoned educationist, administrator and a very quiet achiever.


Mr. Ayo Ojeniyi, B.Sc., MBA – Vice Chairman/Chief Executive
He rose through the ranks to the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive in January 1995 before his elevation to the position of Vice Chairman/Chief Executive in February 2010. He was a former Board member of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Press Ltd; a former President of the Nigerian Publishers Association; a former Vice-Chairman, African Publishers Network (APNET) – an umbrella organisation for national publishers association in 46 African countries; and lately, a Board member of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). He is currently on the Council of Management of African Books Collective (ABC) based in Oxford, UK – an initiative which markets and distributes African publishers’ books to Europe and North America. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Publishers and Honourary Fellow of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN).


Chief N. O. Okereke, B.Sc., MBA – Managing Director
Chief Okereke attended the Universities of Nigeria (Nsukka) and Ibadan. After a teaching career at the College of Education, Port-Harcourt and College of Technology, Owerri he joined the company in August 1981 as Area Sales Manager (East) and rose to the position of Marketing Director in February 2008 and Managing Director in February 2010. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management and member Nigerian Institute of Marketing. He is also Vice-President Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA).


Mrs. Olawepo Afueri Sogo, BA, MA (Publishing) – Director (Operations)
Mrs. Olawepo Afueri Sogo was educated at St. Louis Secondary School, Ondo and Universities of Benin, Ibadan and Oxford Brookes, UK. She joined the company in 1986 as an Assistant Editor and rose through the ranks to the position of General Manager (Publishing) before her appointment as Director (Operations) in February 2010.


OUR MANAGEMENT

Mr. Ayo Ojeniyi, B.Sc., MBA – Vice Chairman/Chief Executive
An accomplished publisher, he attended the Universities of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and Ibadan. He has also attended various local and overseas courses in Publishing and Management. He joined the company in July 1976 as Editor-in-Training.
